This week had some major events in the 1980s, some of which resemble things happening in Whistler today. For more photos of the construction of Lift No. 6 (Jersey Cream) on Blackcomb take a look here. For more photos of the 1984 floods, check here.
Thank you. I am Kristal Robinson from the 25th photo. My parents and I had never seen this photo and it was a fun find! It was great to zoom in and see the copper kettle in the window and my Fathers electrical company name (Rocky Mountain Electric) on the ladder. Thank you.
Great old photos but the first one is in Squamish not Whistler….I believe that tower behind is the garibaldi highlands fire department and that GBS was out in Mons at that time.
I first visited Alta Lake w/my parents Andy & Lilo Mader from the 1950’s on. We would visit Paul & Marianne Golnick whose children I often babysat while the adults partied & watched movies in the community hall above the PGE Station. Myself, I spent a lot of time w/Myrtle Philip who’d serve me muffins and tea and tell old timer stories going back to when she and Alex built Rainbow Lodge .
My REQUEST IS THAT YOU PUT THE YEAR WHEN ALL THOSE WONDERFUL OLD-TIMER PHOTOS WERE TAKEN.
All my comments disappeared as I was writing them today, May 3, 2022. They were about visits to the Golnicks with my parents Andy & Lilo Mader from our home in Squamish. This was from 1950’s onwards. I would always spend many hours with Myrtle Philip who’d make us tea & muffins. Years later when Alex had died, I’d visit her in the hospital in Squamish. There she’d tell yet many more Rainbow Lodge adventures. Now in my 70’s, I cherish those happy happy days and fond memories.
PLEASE SEND MY DETAILS BACK TO ME: c3mader@gmail.com I’d like to finish & include some photos.

That’s great that you found it! If you’re interested, there are a few more photos here: https://whistlermuseum.smugmug.com/Whistler-Question-Collection/1983-Negatives/WQ23521-72/ (they’re also bigger). We’re glad you enjoyed the photo!
